If Oprah Runs For Office The Entire Planet Will Explode

Just like with Jesse Jackson, Jr., one reason I knew Mitt Romney was going to be a failure was his involvement in the NewAge.

And I'm not alone in how I look for it - simple skepticism.

The guys behind South Park use it - and doctors, too. Check out Orac busting Carol Alt, another self-appointed "Miss Information":

Before I wrote this post I Googled “Carol Alt cancer,” and what I found was surprisingly thin. There’s this article from 2008 in which Alt is quoted as blaming cervical and uterine cancer for the failure of her marriage to Ron Greschner because she had been rendered unable to have children and Greschner very much wanted to have children. This happened back in 1997; so her cancer diagnosis must have occurred before that. There was also this article, which said basically the same thing but also revealed that Alt is very much into raw food woo. This article reinforces the same points, but doesn’t mention Alt’s battle with cervical cancer and instead attributes her adopting a raw vegan diet to feeling run down and larger as she got older. In the article, she also spews many of the tropes and bits of misinformation about raw vegan diets. She even blathers on about “acid diets” and how the body likes to be “alkaline.” Holy Robert O. Young, Batman!

Here’s the interesting thing. Alt takes a lot of supplements. A lot of supplements,...

Another fool "on the path" - Glenn Reynolds has promoted the wonders of "raw food woo" as well. And wouldn't you know it? Carol Alt's possibly using supplements provided by who else?

Mitt Romney.

Corruption, profiting from spreading bad advice, losing elections, selling and/or taking worthless concoctions, giving money to criminals, etc., it's always the same.

Seriously:

NewAgers - and the problems they'll eventually accrue for us - just aren't that difficult to discover ahead of time,...

Vegan Joints Are Cults (So Is Yoga Still Not Spiritual?)

The Skeptical Vegan is making an amazing admission - and providing a great service:
"The vegan and vegetarian communities are philosophically and religiously diverse and while secular veganism is growing in the west, still in the US and much of the world religious groups of one sort or another dominate the vegetarian and vegan culture. Most of us are familiar with Hindu-run curry houses or Buddhist tofu joints but there are also many other places run by devotees of smaller 'new religious movements' or cults*. In the following series of posts I will be taking a deeper look into some of these businesses and the groups behind them."

There are five chapters, so far, all featuring figures and cults previously covered on TMR. Click the Red links, and then check out my tags at the bottom of the post, to see who the cults are, how they're trying to exploit us, and how much ground I've covered for the whole truth on these wonderful human beings:

Our Problem? Not Enough Astrology In Our Daily Lives

Poor India, it's taking so long to come out of the dark:
“Pune: In a setback to the progressive movement in Maharashtra, leading anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar was shot dead by two unidentified assailants while he was out on a morning walk here on Tuesday.
Known for his over two-decade long campaign against outdated and inhuman social practices, Dabholkar was currently engaged in mobilising public opinion and holding discussions with Maharashtra government for passing an 'anti-superstition and black magic' law in the state legislature, opposed by certain sections of the society, including the Warkari sect.
69-year-old Dabholkar, who headed the 'Andhashraddha Nirluman Samiti' (anti-superstition movement), was out for a morning walk when two motorcycle-borne unidentified assailants fired two bullets from close range into his head from behind, police said quoting an eyewitness.”

Whether claiming to defend superstition or black magic, those bullets are all they've ever represented,...
