I'm The Indian Escaping At The End Of "Cuckoo's Nest"

This is a gun.

If you're not crazy, they're all kinds of cool.

If you are crazy, we've got a problem.

How do I define "crazy"?

That's where I'm faced with a dilemma.

See, I live in a culture that encourages people not to concede to the rational - like believing a man who walked on water watches over our lives, and may even talk to us.

Is that crazy?

Then there's the idea certain humans possess magical powers, say of redemption, like Westerners did Bob Dylan and The Beatles, and like The Beatles did the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi from the East, in turn.

Was that crazy?

Our lives are overflowing with asinine ideas people still insist on - including discredited ones.

Is letting that happen crazy?

We're not the rest of the world.

Americans are supposed to be different.

We're supposed to be stripping away the fraud that defines the hardships of other people's lives.

Instead, we treat it as a show.

In such a culture, the military couldn't stop the Washington shooter for being crazy, any more than society can stop Jenny McCarthy - who's killed way more people - using different means.

Even with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, the shooter's beliefs are no stranger than hers, or many others.

This is our culture.

They call it the NewAge and, as a society, it's "the path" they've chosen.

The one that says the Washington shooter deserved to die and Jenny McCarthy is a star of television and publishing - despite being identical in beliefs, actions, and crimes.

That's how I define crazy.

And, I think, things will start to work out again - and fewer people will die - once we commit ourselves to curing it,...

Miley Cyrus Can't Even Start To Compete With Madonna

Terrible news - Madonna's "twice" married spiritual leader, Phillip Berg, has died - and (as rationalizing more than one marriage indicates) in what's become the NewAge's traditional fashion:

"In 2010 I told you about Karen Berg globe trotting around the world with a new paramour while Philip Berg languished at home.

Thanks to the canny manipulation of a few celebrities, the Bergs have managed to amass quite a war chest and a lot of real estate. In the last few years they managed to get Madonna involved in the ill-fated charity Raising Malawi, collecting millions of dollars for a leadership academy that was never built in the central south African country of Malawi."

That's O.K., unlike Obama, she was working for style points.

Got 'em, too.

Proudly Being A Witch Never Made Much Sense To Me

I understand I'm probably not getting the most out of life right now, being exposed to those who don't take seriously the harm NewAge does to me and others, but - until they do - I can't think of much that's more important to pursue. To me, real people are getting hurt badly, right under our noses, when it could be stopped. Horrible crimes. But few others want to stop them, and - if nothing else - that fact's fascinating to me.

"It was an hour into the self-help session when the girl began sobbing uncontrollably. For Ali Campbell, the celebrity life coach, it was just another example of the potency of his ‘being true to yourself’ workshops.

But for Michael Le Vell, it was the beginning of two years that threatened to rob him of his career, his family and his sanity.

It took place at the so-called ‘Glastonbury of the self-help world’, an annual conference called I Can Do It! A two-day festival of self-development, it was set up by Louise Hay, an 86-year-old American whose controversial brand of positive thinking has earned her millions of followers around the world."

Part of the issue is, today, there's no escaping it. Another - watching where the money goes - is such a potent symbol of why we've so quickly become a basket case of a country.

Here's where a huge chunk of our change goes:

"Though you may not know it, you live in Louise Hay’s world. Are you a black man who thinks psychics are nonsense but reads the affirmations of Tavis Smiley? Hay House has a special imprint just for Smiley. Are you a TV-loathing snob who occasionally condescends to watch PBS? The pledge-drive specials that Hay House has produced for Wayne (“Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling”) Dyer have helped raise more than $100 million for public television — they are one of PBS’s most-successful fund-raising tools."

Real people in the way, of this juggernaut of chaos, hardly stand a chance - because we're almost always alone and blind-sided:

Meanwhile, the Boomers, etc., chant the NewAge phrase, "move on" to unburden themselves.

But also as a necessary rear-guard action.

What's done is done - and everybody will know them for who they are and what they've done.

It only follows, you know, they're expecting a reply,...

Sounds Like Somebody's Going To Have To Get Serious

I'm still down. Not really fighting today, just getting through it. But, in my dark mood, I am enjoying the show:

The man known as President Obama left the building after his Syria speech. What’s left in the White House is Barry Soetoro or whatever he goes by now: a shrunken, confused husk surrounded by court jesters, second-rate ideologues, and sycophants. And while it may be tempting to gloat at his reversal of fortune, the truth is that the collapse of the presidency represents the most dangerous moment in America since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Olympus has fallen. America’s leadership is functionally impaired in the face of a thrusting, fast-moving, and possibly brilliant opponent. Of course, the fact that Putin was up against a broken reed made it easier for him. Yet however one may admire Putin’s skills, it must be an admiration tempered by fear, of the kind felt by the British 8th Army in the face of Rommel, of the sort with which Gamelin regarded Guderian. Nothing can disguise the fact that Putin is the enemy and America is less-than-competently led in its contest against him. Something must be done to stem the tide. But what?
