Too Much Mumbo Jumbo (Before Trying Jumbo Mumbo)

You can’t just tell Johnny to be good, or not to steal and assume that he will know how, or even be able, to do this by willpower alone. Moral education needs to be more skill-based. That is, we would advise parents to tell their kids not only what the goal is, but also how to get there — what tricks to expect their minds will engage in and what strategies they can use to keep their character moving in the direction they want. Because in the end, it’s not about “Are you a good person in general” — it’s about “Are you a good person right now.”

Enough Is Enough (But Of What We'll Have No Idea,...)

Yesterday's take:

It reflects badly on conservatives to bash Oprah for minor racial distortions revealing her lack of a proper education.

Today's take:

Ignorance or not, Oprah's out of fucking control and must be stopped.

Are we broken as a people yet?

I don't know.

Sure seems like it.

The NewAge's multi-decade process of demoralization, that this country's been half-assed functioning under (with Oprah's help) has rendered everything questionable but facts and - as we've seen numerous times on the Right and Left - even facts have no effect on some, if not most.

Lives can be slaughtered today for not getting along with this girl's mother.

I think the acceptance of no-fault divorce should be enshrined as evidence NewAgers simply prefer breaking other people's lives to anyone changing their minds.

And everyone thinks no one can do anything about any of it, because somebody will be "insulted" which carries more weight for some reason, and on and on and on.

So, in this environment - instead of conservatives standing athwart history yelling "Stop!" - they're more comfortable on the sidelines going "Neener-Neener-Neener" with people who agree with them.

Plus, they know where these "facts" would bite them on the ass, too.

Just ask Jesus.
