If 1 Thing Leads To Another I Expect To Get Somewhere

The Daily Mail asks a question I've considered, more often than I'd like, when meeting others:

"Why ARE so many people being labelled bipolar? More and more celebrities say they have it, but here a top psychiatrist warns the disorder is far too readily diagnosed, leaving many trapped on 'zombie' pills"

No matter what the illness, misdiagnosis is always a medical hazard, and - without the proper amount of time for observation - bipolar disorder's a toughie. 

Especially because, after the disappearance of asylums, society's being conditioned to tolerate madness, partially through hiding it's public treatment behind validating medicalized language. 

Allowed to convince us of their "point of view" - without most sufferer's realizing, possibly, how skewed it is (and definitely without anyone else being so "offensive" as to admit it) or what a burden accommodation places on us all - the functionally insane become trickier to identify.

People now ask "What's normal?" far more than trying to see who's crazy enough to do some damage somehow.

"I don't know how I missed so many signs."

That was Jesse Jackson on the day his "bipolar" son went to prison last August. 

Incarcerated (with his wife) for corruption, Jackson, Jr. clearly had more energy than good sense, eventually spending $750,000 of the taxpayer's money on what essentially were impulse items - typical behavior for someone with bipolar. 

TMR outted Jr. as a crystal-gazing NewAger in 2010, an endeavor I - almost alone - have long associated with possible mental illness and further trouble down the line.

But then, to me, this all seems pretty obvious to begin with,....

It's Not A Surprise Why So Few Blacks Can Make It In The Right's Circles Or Why So Few Whites Don't Know

It's shameful to think the only places I can go online to avoid what I call "monkey noises" from whites is here, a black site like The Root, or maybe some liberal outlet. I don't know of a single "safe" place on the Right. Racial intolerance, and harassment, is just too much a part of the conservative decor.

And, while I know all white conservatives aren't even close to racist, I'm also acutely aware of their reluctance to speak to other whites about their attitudes - which means I'm left open as a target.

Nobody needs that - especially the feeling you're all alone, almost betrayed, when your supposed "friends" are right there.

A lot of whites ask me what the answer to race in this country is, and now - post-Trayvon - I don't have an answer for them. I saw too many whites really, really happy a black kid was dead. That's what almost all black people saw. I took Zimmerman's side and whites still disgusted me with their lust for blood - and their attacks on me. And then there was this.

Ask yourself - how many blacks did you encounter today? I've seen nothing but whites today. There are white people who never saw a black person. Unless locked indoors, there's possibly no black person in America who didn't have to deal with whites.

And yet some whites are violently upset with us. Like we just fuck up the view. Some whites have always been violently upset with us. What am I supposed to do with them around me? Hang out with other whites - who won't defend me as I would them? Seriously?

I hate this whole set up - but that's race in America. I'm going to be the bad guy no matter what I do. Don't say anything, I get attacked. Say something, and everybody gets pissed at me - then I get attacked. Can there be any doubt why blacks aren't integrating with conservatives?

This blog didn't used to be black - not even in background color. 

But there's something about defying a white mob alone, online or off, that'll do that to you.

It all definitely came at a bad time, for me personally, but what the fuck?

Begging everybody to drop the topic definitely wasn't working.

And I still can't fathom why I - alone - am always expected to set the good example,...

 

Why's There A Gay Parade - But Never A Black One?

 

Catchy title, huh? Yeah. I was going to try something with those two terms of endearment - Race Hustler and Victim Schtick - but gays, always saying we're the same, bother me. Where's the black fucking parade?

Never heard a white person ask that. Humph.

So, the fear is, the movie 12 Years A Slave might cause problems. I don't know why. 

It's just the kind of story black households live with, as personal history, and discuss - can the rest of the country deal? 

I don't know. 

I wonder if whites understand there are entire black families still licking their wounds - or do they think we wake up each morning thinking this is a wonderful land of opportunity and we better go get it? I don't know. 

If they're not denying slavery happened fairly recently in the life of blacks, then some whites are trying to deny it's had any affect on blacks as a people - like a family intimately understanding rape and other horrible crimes, along with toiling for free for centuries, can't do that. 

If some whites can't sell that idea, they just don't like you. 

Whites will listen to complete idiots before they contemplate someone else might have a clue. Sorry, folks, I've seen it and lived it. Considering how many idiot whites there are, that's a long-assed line I've had to wait in and, usually, it's too long to get to me today. Well, at least I had the "opportunity," right? Is that how it works? Oh joy. 

Right now, some whites like to rail about black-on-black crime, but are they going to consider that partial fall-out from white slave owners forcing blacks to "punish" each other? I don't know that either. They do love them some black-on-black crime, though. They never talk about white-on-white crime - which is the majority of crime, just based on volume. Maybe that's because white-on-white crime is just "crime". Isn't that strange? 

There's a lot I don't know because, with some whites, there's no way to imagine they share the same country. I'm expected to be open and honest, but they can't even acknowledge outnumbering me, and doing so by such a wide margin I can be driven mad by hearing the same lame racial jokes, the same lame racial arguments, and the same lame denials of every word I say, over and over and over again. Usually in a single day, online. "Thinking outside the box" is just a phrase to these people. They have no intention of trying it.

And there's nothing I can do about it - they hold all the cards. All they have to do is not to like what I'm saying, agree on that, and I'm done - right or wrong don't matter. Do they understand that? I don't know. They've rarely backed me up when I'm right (ask Ann You're-all-losers Althouse or Glenn I-like-quackery Reynolds) but demand friendship I rarely feel.  Not sure how that's supposed to work.

Did you know most of my donations come from people I rarely talk to? The ones I do, they don't have time - too busy writing "the narrative" of my life to be bothered with the real thing.

I can be affected by how white people are so concerned by white's opinions to the exclusion of everyone else's. Do they consider that? I don't know. I doubt most whites have been in that situation very often. Where blacks, as a group, can simply ignore them.

What do you guys think Dave Chappelle has been grappling with - why he had to pass on $50 million and run to Africa? (Wasn't he your buddy, playing a blind Klansman shouting "Nigger!") Do you think he was wondering how great being in this situation is - even with money? Are YOU in a "situation" just by waking up today? Are YOU writing a racial post for understanding? Nope. You're sitting there deciding.

I've got a white guy caring for me now - he's manic/depressive and barks "Nigger!" several times a day. Are you relying on such help? Could you handle a black guy in your house yelling "Cracker!" or "Honky!" uncontrollably? I bet you couldn't. Nor would you, and never will have to - but we're all the same, started from the same place, "living the dream," with the same chances in life, right? Please stop the bullshit.

It's Not Spiritual And It's Not Hippie - It's American Music

 I remember "Urgent," hilariously reframing the Dirty White Boys as a New Wave band without style, back-in-the-day.

I wasn't part of the "we" in that quote, for various reasons, but mostly because I can't count how many times I was set upon (sometimes violently) for enjoying music's evolution back then. If you want to know what it was like, imagine the reaction Dylan got for going electric, but following you around for more than a decade. 

   

 The future had arrived without warning, in synthetic form - and finally featuring rhythm - and machines! But, by welcoming it, I was the bad guy.

   

 Like it was my fault Led Zeppelin had one of the only drummers in Rock who thought (what we now call) a Rap beat was actually important - and who didn't think he practiced to, either, play metronome or occasionally express how "crazy" he was.

 Of course - once the party officially got kicked off - where the future was heading didn't make many folks happy, either, so there was conflict again. 

You could say, from 1977 to 1987, it was pretty much open warfare - with me in the middle - until my "side" brought the walls down.

Since then, I don't have to remind you, there's been a few times when we've all had reason to contemplate ending it.
